In the Bible, we find many examples of miracles, from Genesis to the apostles in the New Testament. Nowadays it doesn’t seem like miracles happen as often as they did back then, but the fact of the matter is, they do happen and sometimes we don’t realize that a miracle has taken place. I can testify that in my life the Lord has performed many miracles, great and small, some happened to me personally, and others I was in the room to experience it.
What I want to do is talk about some of the miracles that the Lord has done for me and some that I have witnessed. Then I want to talk about miracles that we take for granted in life. I also want to mention some of the miracles in the Bible, maybe even some that people have forgotten about. We know of the famous ones, but sometimes we forget about the others the Lord has performed through His servants. It is also important to mention the false miracles that can take place and know the difference between the good and the evil.
With all of that to cover I guess it is best to get started. First I would like to talk about some of the miracles the Lord has performed in my life.
One of these miracles actually happened to me the other day 2/21/19, in case some of you read this at a later point of time you now know the date it actually happened. Our power went out yesterday as well as part of today, when that happens we have no electricity, we do have a generator but it was smoking and we were worried so we turned it off. We were waiting for a call to come through, but we knew my dad wasn’t able to connect with us because we had no power to the phone lines. We also couldn’t use our cell phones because where we live our cell doesn’t have coverage in the area.
Since we moved here it has never worked, now here is where the miracle comes, we were huddled up in the living room trying to stay warm in the cold house when the cell phone starts ringing. My mother looks at her phone like she wasn’t hearing right and then she answers and says a hesitant hello. Low and behold it was my dad calling and we were able to talk about what was going on. We were amazed and after the call ended not too long after the cell phone once again showed No Service. It was so exciting to experience, we immediately thanked the Lord for allowing the call to come through and praised His holy name.
Now for some other miracles that the Lord performed in my life. The next one that I’m going to tell you about, I mentioned it in one of my other blogs, but for those of you who might have missed it here is the story again. When I was in New Zealand, the Lord worked several miracles that were amazing and to this day I am grateful for what the Lord did while I was there and always will be. I am pretty sure I have written about several instances but it doesn’t hurt to tell them again.
Without further ado here is a couple of those stories. The first one is this: my partner and I were going door to door passing out tracks, I’m not sure which tracks they were now but we were making our way up the street when all of a sudden this huge dog, (a Rottweiler) comes charging toward me and starts barking. This dog came out of nowhere, at least that is what it seemed like at the time.
I end up dropping everything I was carrying from being startled, and I stood perfectly still. I started praying immediately, I asked the Lord to shut this dog’s mouth just like He did with the lion’s in the den that Daniel went in. All while I was praying this Rottweiler just keeps barking and lunging at me but never coming any nearer. I slowly bend over and pick up the tracks and then start slowly backing away and the dog stayed right where it was.
Come to find out the dog wasn’t even guarding its own house, it belonged to some people down the hill and had somehow gotten loose and went to this house and started protecting it like it was his house. When I got away I thanked the Lord and was so grateful that He protected, I knew that could have gone a very different way. Especially if the dog felt threatened, and I am just grateful the Lord gave me the wisdom to know what to do in that situation and to keep that dog right where it was and said come no further.
One more big miracle story and then we will move on. I could probably make a whole other blog with more miracle stories that the Lord has done for me and others in my family. This story is one that I will never forget to about, it was truly goosebump worthy.
It was night time and I couldn’t remember if we had locked the house, so I started making my way down the stairs to see if the front door was locked. Suddenly, I saw a shadow run through the living room, there was a door to the living room and I just saw the shadow through the glass door, it wasn’t clear glass. I stopped stock still and I felt chills, and I knew there was an evil presence in the house.
Well myself and a couple of my colleagues made our way downstairs, we checked the downstairs and there was no one there and we made sure the doors and windows were secure and they were. We could all feel the oppressing spirit though, so we ran up and got our Bibles and one my colleagues got their guitar and we went back downstairs and started with a prayer, then we read passages/ promises from the Bible, and then sang some hymns.
By then we felt better, so we made our way back upstairs, but we were still a bit freaked out and the evil spirit wasn’t fully out, so we sat upstairs and did the same thing until we felt the Holy Spirit’s presence among us. It was the most amazing feeling I have experienced, I felt a warmth, comfort, the room seemed brighter than the light could give, and just loved. I almost can’t describe what it felt like, but I knew without a shadow of doubt that the Holy Spirit was in that room with us.
What happened next, leaves in my mind, no other explanation than the work of the Lord. During our final prayer, unbeknownst to me and one of the others, the third person in the group prayed that if the Holy Spirit really was in the midst of us for something to happen.
This person was slowly coming back to Christ and had been experiencing demon activity in her life. The demon would wake this person up by shaking the bed. So this person prayed that if it really was the Holy Spirit in the room with us that some sign would happen and promised that they would give up whatever the Lord directed.
When we finished the prayer the song “You Raise Me Up,” started playing the chorus of the song. We looked at each other in surprise and then we asked this person if they had started playing the song. They explained they had not, and not only that but they had their phone screen off and that song wasn’t even the song they had been listening to. So for it to start playing and to play where it played was not something that would have been caused by bumping it or anything else. We were stunned and I got goosebumps all over, and we let the song play through till it ended. We had another prayer thanking the Lord for hearing and answering the prayer.
It was absolutely incredible, and it showed us all and reminded us that God is stronger than any demon and that He was sending us a message of His love.
These are just a few of the miracles that have happened in my life, I could literally fill up another blog about what the Lord has done in my life and the life of others. Maybe I will write about some of the others in another blog. Things like this happening just help me remember how great God is and how kind He is to send us these signs, and help when we need it the most. We have not because we ask not.
Sometimes the answer is no! Or sometimes it is not now and it is for our benefit that Jesus says these things to us, we may not know why now but one day we will understand why it had to be that way and we will thank the Lord that He did it that way.
Now second, really quickly I’m going to name some miracles from the Bible. We all have heard of the Red Sea, Daniel in the lion’s den, the fiery furnace, Elijah when he called fire down and it consumed the sacrifice from Mount Caramel, Paul and the deadly serpent that bit him and nothing happened to him, Paul raised the boy to life the one that fell asleep and fell out of the window to his death, the apostles performed many miracles Peter would pass by people and his shadow would heal the maladies of the people, and of course we can’t forget all the miracles that Jesus performed while He was alive on this earth.
Of course, all these people didn’t perform these miracles, it was the Lord working through them and it is because they had the Lord in their hearts that they were able to do any of those wonderful things. I would highly encourage you to go through your Bible and read all the miracles that took place, you will be so encouraged after reading those stories. We should have no doubt in our minds of what the Lord is capable of and know that He will take care of us if we serve and follow Him with our whole hearts.
As I mentioned above miracles can be performed by bad people and through Satan’s minions and followers. We are told that in the last day’s many miracles will come to fruition through Satan, he will even be able to call fire down from heaven and by that convince many people that he is “Jesus”. You see Satan is going to impersonate Jesus and walk around the earth doing all these “wonderful” works. We can know that this is not the real Jesus because the Bible tells us that Jesus will not let His feet touch the earth until after the thousand years in heaven.
Luke 21:8 – And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
People who perform miracles for themselves and expect pay and praise are not part of Jesus or doing the miracles from Jesus. Anyone who happens to perform a miracle from the Lord will immediately give all the glory and honor to Jesus and not brag about it or seek attention or praise or expect pay for the thing he or she has done. This is one of the ways you can know if they are servants of the Lord or servants of Satan.
2 Corinthians 11:14 – And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
That text explains that Satan can transform himself into an angel of light, and he can transform into dead relatives, he isn’t the only one his evil minion the other angels that fell from heaven can do this as well. That is why we must watch and be ready so that we are not deceived by deception. Prove everything from the Bible, we know that there is no life after death so we can easily know that a dead relative won’t be able to come back from the grave.
If the angel of light tells you to worship it or worship another day besides Saturday as Sabbath we can also know that they are not angels of light. A true angel of light would never want you to worship or fall down at its feet because we know that the only one we should bow down to is God. The same goes for Sabbath we can know the true Sabbath from the Bible and know that any other day is a deception and coming from the evil one.
Deuteronomy 11:16 – Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
Even in the midst of the great deceptions of the last days, when delusive miracles will be performed in the sight of men in behalf of Satanic theories, it is our privilege to hide ourselves in Christ Jesus. It is possible for us to seek and to obtain salvation. And in this time of unusual peril, we must learn to stand alone, our faith fixed, not on the word of man, but on the sure promises of God. {SpTB09 20.2}
Let not the days pass by and precious opportunities be lost of seeking the Lord with all the heart and mind and soul. If we accept not the truth in the love of it, we may be among the number who will see the miracles wrought by Satan in these last days, and believe them. Many strange things will appear as wonderful miracles, which should be regarded as deceptions manufactured by the father of lies. –Letter 136, 1906. {2SM 53.1}
I am instructed to say that in the future great watchfulness will be needed. There is to be among God’s people no spiritual stupidity. Evil spirits are actively engaged in seeking to control the minds of human beings. Men are binding up in bundles, ready to be consumed by the fires of the last days. Those who discard Christ and His righteousness will accept the sophistry that is flooding the world. Christians are to be sober and vigilant, steadfastly resisting their adversary the devil, who is going about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Men under the influence of evil spirits will work miracles. They will make people sick by casting their spell upon them, and will then remove the spell, leading others to say that those who were sick have been miraculously healed. This Satan has done again and again.–Letter 259, 1903. {2SM 53.2}
We need not be deceived. Wonderful scenes, with which Satan will be closely connected, will soon take place. God’s Word declares that Satan will work miracles. He will make people sick, and then will suddenly remove from them his satanic power. They will then be regarded as healed. These works of apparent healing will bring Seventh-day Adventists to the test. Many who have had great light will fail to walk in the light, because they have not become one with Christ.–Letter 57, 1904. {2SM 53.3}
Some declare their unbelief in the work that the Lord has given me to do because, as they say, “Mrs. E. G. White works no miracles.” But those who look for miracles as a sign of divine guidance are in grave danger of deception. It is stated in the Word that the enemy will work through his agents who have departed from the faith, and they will seemingly work miracles, even to the bringing down of fire out of heaven in the sight of men. By means of “lying wonders” Satan would deceive, if possible, the very elect. {2SM 53.4}
Multitudes have heard me speak, and have read my writings, but no one has ever heard me claim to work miracles. I have at times been called upon to pray for the sick, and the word of the Lord has been verified. [James 5:14, 15 quoted.] Christ is the great miracle worker. To Him be all the glory.–Letter 410, 1907. {2SM 54.1}
It is impossible to give any idea of the experience of the people of God who will be alive on the earth when past woes and celestial glory will be blended. They will walk in the light proceeding from the throne of God. By the means of the angels there will be constant communication between heaven and earth. And Satan, surrounded by evil angels, and claiming to be God, will work miracles of all kinds to deceive, if possible, the very elect. God’s people will not find their safety in working miracles, for Satan would counterfeit any miracle that might be worked. God’s tried and tested people will find their power in the sign spoken of in Exodus 31:12-18. They are to take their stand on the living Word–“It is written.” This is the only foundation upon which they can stand securely. Those who have broken their covenant with God will in that day be without hope and without God in the world. {2SM 54.5}
The worshipers of God will be especially distinguished by their regard for the fourth commandment–since this is the sign of His creative power and the witness to His claim upon man’s reverence and homage. The wicked will be distinguished by their efforts to tear down the Creator’s memorial, to exalt the institution of Rome. In the issue of the contest all Christendom will be divided into two great classes–those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and those who worship the beast and his image and receive his mark. Although church and state will unite their power to compel “all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond” (Revelation 13:16), to receive the mark of the beast, yet the people of God will not receive it. The prophet of Patmos beholds “them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God” (Revelation 15:2) and singing the song of Moses and the Lamb. {2SM 55.1}
Fearful tests and trials await the people of God. The spirit of war is stirring the nations from one end of the earth to the other. But in the midst of the time of trouble that is coming–a time of trouble such as has not been since there was a nation–God’s chosen people will stand unmoved. Satan and his angels cannot destroy them, for angels that excel in strength will protect them.–Letter 119, 1904. {2SM 55.2}
With all that being said, it is not that the Lord will not do amazing things in your life, we just have to watch, pray, study and be not just hearers of the Word but do what the Word says. Study to show ourselves approved, so that we may stand against the deceptions of Satan. Please study this subject very carefully and I pray that it has blessed you. I am grateful for the workings of the Lord in my life and I pray that He will continue to lead and guide me. I also pray that I may leave every evil sin that is so easily besetting so that I am ready for the day when I will have to stand. Please pray for me as I pray for all of you.
