There is a big controversy going on right now about the Holy Spirit. I feel that the Lord is telling me to write about the subject. Everything will be taken out of the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy so that we have no questions and hear it right from the Lord. I pray that when you read this that you take what I have written and study it for yourself. Everyone seems to be really confused about this matter, when in fact it is very simple and we are given very clear and precise counsel on the subject.
For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, let me start with an explanation and then go from there. Many people are confused about the Godhead and yes, I do mean the Godhead. Let’s start there, many people refer to the Godhead as the trinity and what a lot of people don’t realize is that term “trinity” was coined by the Catholic church. That term has nothing to do with what is the truth, that term isn’t mentioned once in the Bible, and when it is mentioned in the Spirit of Prophecy it is under the title misrepresentation of the Godhead which you can find in Evangelism starting at paragraph {613.2} and you can read for yourself.
The Godhead is made up of three people, here is what the Bible says: 1 John 5:7, 8 – For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
This verse explains that there are three people, three distinct people that are in heaven and they act as one. The Godhead is three individual people who work together and the three of them together make up God. Whereas the trinity belief is you have three people who are all God, there are other variations of the trinity as well, but all of them are false. The Godhead is the only true version and should be the only way that we refer to the Three.
Matthew 28:18, 19 – Christ tells us to baptize in the “Name” (singular) of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Not three gods, but three Persons, whose name is God.
Now onto the other controversy, many people don’t believe that the Holy Spirit also known as the Holy Ghost is not a person, that it is just a spirit that comes out of God or out of Jesus, this is FALSE and we see this over and over in the Spirit of Prophecy and even the Bible is clear on the matter.
Let me make a couple of points, first of all, the verse I just put up above, if the Holy Spirit wasn’t a person the scriptures would never have needed to included Him in that verse or mentioned that these three are one. What would have been the point in including that name at all? There would be a reason to say that the three are one, it could have just mentioned the Father and Jesus and said those two together are the same. It would have worded it totally different, in fact, modern versions of the Bible don’t even include that verse in the Bible, they are trying to remove it from the Bible!
The Scriptures are very clear that if you add or take away from the Word of God a curse would come upon you. That is why I only read the King James Version, if necessary, I can get into that in another blog and all the reasons why.
Another point is that the Holy Spirit is mentioned several times in the Bible and talked about as an individual. All Three were present at Jesus’s baptism, the Father spoke, the Holy Spirit showed up as a dove, and of course, Jesus who was in the water. The Holy Spirit shows up multiple times; one of those time is when the disciples were in the Upper Room and praying, the Holy Spirit came upon them and you could see tongues of fire above their heads. Now I don’t know about you but first off that is really amazing, and second, the Holy Spirit arrived as tongues of fire to show them all that He was there and was with them.
2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Spirit intercedes for believers, and through them prays to God. (Romans 8:26)
There are many other instances and you can go and search for them yourself, do a comprehensive study on it and leave no stone unturned.
This goes back to what I was saying if the Holy Spirit was not a person, why is the Bible referring to Him as an individual? How would He be able to give holy men understanding? The Bible is clear, there are THREE, you can’t just take one away because you don’t understand how the Godhead works.
There are aspects of the Godhead that we as humans can understand, we can understand that there are three individuals, we can understand that 2 out of 3 are not flesh and bones, only Jesus came down and became fully human to save us from our sins, we can understand that they have had no beginning. That last one may be harder for us to understand but we don’t need to understand to accept it. There are many, many things that we will learn when we get to heaven and throughout all eternity we will ever be learning and understanding the mystery of Godliness and love of God.
1 Timothy 3:16 – And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
The Holy Spirit always leads to the written word. The Holy Spirit is a person; for He beareth witness with our spirits that we are the children of God. When this witness is borne, it carries with it its own evidence. At such times we believe and are sure that we are the children of God. What strong evidence of the power of truth we can give to believers and unbelievers when we can voice the words of John, “We have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” {20MR 68.5}
The Holy Spirit has a personality, else He could not bear witness to our spirits and with our spirits that we are the children of God. He must also be a divine person, else He could not search out the secrets which lie hidden in the mind of God. “For what man knoweth the things of a man save the spirit of man, which is in him; even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”–Ms 20, 1906.
The Father can not be described by the things of earth. The Father is all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, and is invisible to mortal sight. {SpTB07 62.3}
The Son is all the fulness of the Godhead manifested. The Word of God declares Him to be “the express image of His person.” “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Here is shown the personality of the Father. {SpTB07 63.1}
The Comforter that Christ promised to send after He ascended to heaven, is the Spirit in all the fulness of the Godhead, making manifest the power of divine grace to all who receive and believe in Christ as a personal Saviour. There are three living persons of the heavenly trio; in the name of these three great powers–the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit– those who receive Christ by living faith are baptized, and these powers will co-operate with the obedient subjects of heaven in their efforts to live the new life in Christ. . . . {SpTB07 63.2}
We need to realize that the Holy Spirit, who is as much a person as God is a person, is walking through these grounds.–Manuscript 66, 1899. (From a talk to the students at the Avondale School.) {Ev 616.5}
In describing to His disciples the office work of the Holy Spirit, Jesus sought to inspire them with the joy and hope that inspired His own heart. He rejoiced because of the abundant help He had provided for His church. The Holy Spirit was the highest of all gifts that He could solicit from His Father for the exaltation of His people. The Spirit was to be given as a regenerating agent, and without this the sacrifice of Christ would have been of no avail. The power of evil had been strengthening for centuries, and the submission of men to this satanic captivity was amazing. Sin could be resisted and overcome only through the mighty agency of the Third Person of the Godhead, who would come with no modified energy, but in the fullness of divine power. It is the Spirit that makes effectual what has been wrought out by the world’s Redeemer. It is by the Spirit that the heart is made pure. Through the Spirit the believer becomes a partaker of the divine nature. Christ has given His Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress His own character upon His church. {DA 671.2}
Great is the mystery of godliness. There are mysteries in the life of Christ that are to be believed, even though they can not be explained. The finite mind can not fathom the mystery of godliness. {RH, March 2, 1905 par. 5}
These are just a few of many, many quotes that say the same thing. There are so many wonderful quotes about the Godhead and every Person in it. Their role in the Godhead and how They were all involved from the very beginning. We may not be able to grasp everything, but we need not doubt. There are many false doctrines out there, Satan is trying to divert the mind and trying to deceive many before the final close of probation. This is just one of the many deceptions that Satan has going, and we cannot allow ourselves to be led astray.
If we just take the time to study and read for ourselves, we need not fall into error. The same Holy Spirit that was with the disciples and with the prophets is with us. We need to pray for the Spirit’s guiding when we study the Bible.
The Holy Spirit is such an important part, it is He who helps make the Scriptures plain. It is the Holy Spirit who tells us when we are in the wrong and it is He who makes us feel at peace and feel the love of God. There are so many other things which I could say, but I think I shall end it here. Please study this for yourself, and pray that the Holy Spirit may guide you. If you don’t believe in the Holy Spirit how can you expect to understand the precious truth that the Lord wants to reveal to you?

In the Great Commission, Jesus mentions the three Persons (Matthew 28:19-20). In addition, the Three are names alongside of each other in these passages. (1 Corinthians 12:4-6; 1 Peter 1:2)
Make sure that you aren’t interpreting the Spirit of Prophecy or the Bible to your own liking, you can’t get much clearer. I pray that the Lord may continue to lead and guide you.
