Feeling The Wind

One of my favorite things to do when it is windy out is to throw out my arms and let the wind blow! Many people ask, how do you know God is real? I like to tell them, it’s like the wind, you don’t know that it is there, but you can feel it’s presence. God is like this, we can’t see Him but we know He is there by the things He does in our lives.

When Jesus was here on this Earth, right before His ascension to heaven, He told His disciples that He would send the Comforter. Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit, it is because of the Holy Spirit that we can feel God’s presence in our lives.

The disciples were in the upper room when they felt a mighty rushing wind, and then had flames of light upon their heads. It was the presence of the Holy Spirit. They then went out and started preaching and teaching and everyone understood in their own language.

That is just one of the gifts that He can bestow upon us. It is reassuring that the Holy Spirit is with us to lead, guide, and direct us. If we listen to His voice we will not be lead astray. However, the consequences of not listening and ignoring His voice is that He will depart from us forever, and that is not something that I want.

The Holy Spirit tells us when we are doing things that aren’t right, or gives us suggestion we could do to make someone else happy. He is the one that helps us to feel guilty for doing wrong, He tries to lead us to do the right thing. The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Godhead, they are three different people but they work together as one.

Like the wind we can’t feel His presence but we know that He is working, each one of us could tell stories of how He lead us out of doing something that wasn’t right. Even when the peer pressure or family pressure was strong. Or how He lead us to someone who was excited to hear the truth. He is the one who puts people in our path so that we can share the truth with them. It is His voice they hear inside their head to listen or to come speak with us.

I could tell you stories myself of how He has lead and guided me. Sometimes it isn’t always the easiest thing to do. We don’t always listen to His voice, and then we have to suffer the consequences of our action. It is easy to fall of the path of the righteous but it takes effort and working together with the Lord to get us back on the right direction.

For those of you who have read Pilgrim’s Progress you will remember the part where Christian and his companion were lead off the path to what they thought was easier ground. They were instead captured by a giant and almost beaten to death. But the Lord lead him out of the castle of despair. We must remember that He is doing the same for us, He is trying to help us to avoid those places in the first place, when we don’t listen He is still there waiting to pull us out. (For those of you who haven’t read the book, I highly encourage you to do so. 😀 Great parables that apply to our walk with Christ.)

Wind will come and go where it pleases, it works in mysterious ways. The Holy Spirit works like that on a soul, it comes and begins the gentle working of breaking the heart of stone and revealing the heart of flesh that is beneath.

When we are sad or when we are happy He is there, and then He tells our sorrows and our joys to Jesus. He is like a translator for us, He makes our words into a beautiful request, praise, or whatever it may be and speaks it in the language of Canaan. =)

Sometimes the wind is strong and seems to blow everything apart. The Holy Spirit sometimes has to work with us the same way, we may not like how He is dealing with us and we may resent it, but if we give into His loving ways, He will lead us back to a calmer direction.

I love to feel the wind, but I also want to feel God’s presence in my life, don’t you?

I want to go wherever my Saviour leads me, and want to do what He tells me. I am serving the Lord wherever He calls me to go. I laugh and smile very easily, and love to meet new people! The Lord has given me the talent of singing, and playing the flute. I love to play songs which glorify my Savior. A few of my other favorite things I like to do is; reading the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy, cooking, knitting, and I love to witness and share about Jesus! My character is moldable for His hands! If I don't get to meet you here on this earth, meet me in the heavenly kingdom!
